Fertilizer & Weed Control

At Optimum Care we offer customized lawn treatment programs. Our applications are tailored to what your particular lawn needs, and what the season calls for. All our fertilizers and herbicides are professional grade and some of the most environmentally safe products available. We base our programs on recommendations from the University of Minnesota and Purdue University.

Fertilization & Weed Control Schedule

Our 6-step Premium Program includes 4 granular fertilizer applications and 2 spray applications for weed control.

Step 1: Early Spring (granular) - April

Includes a slow-release granular fertilizer with a crabgrass pre-emergent. This application will help stop crabgrass and many other weeds from germinating as well as provide a quick green up for your lawn.

Step 2Spring (liquid) - May

Includes broadleaf weed control for dandelion, clover, ground ivy (creeping charlie), nutsedge, and many other types of weeds.

Step 3: Late Spring (granular) - June

Includes a seasonal slow-release granular fertilizer to help promote a lush green color during the summer months. The application also includes spot-spraying any weeds found in your lawn at this time.

Step 4: Summer (granular) - August

Includes a slow-release organic granular fertilizer to help thicken your lawn and encourage root growth. This application keeps your lawn healthy and strong to help protect it from late summer lawn diseases. The application also includes spot-spraying any weeds found in your lawn at this time.

Step 5: Fall (liquid) - September

Includes broadleaf weed control for dandelion, clover, ground ivy (creeping charlie), nutsedge, and many other types of weeds.

Step 6: Late Fall (granular) - October

Includes a quick-release formula to give the lawn a healthy blast of nutrition before the roots are entirely dormant for the winter.

The Optimum Care Difference

At Optimum Care, protecting and preserving the environment is a big concern. We operate using an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategy, which is the process of reducing unnecessary chemicals by only applying herbicides and pesticides when necessary. We take the extra time and care to spot treat weeds, only spraying what is necessary thus helping to maintain a weed-free lawn and a healthier environment.
